- Remove furniture and other items from the room and Wash walls with a light detergent solution to remove dust, grease, and dirt
Preparing

- Sand the walls to create a smooth surface
Priming
- Apply a primer to help the paint stick to the wall or Use an undercoat if you're covering a dark color or surface that hasn't been painted before
Masking
- Use painter's masking tape to cover sockets, switches, and skirting boards
Painting
- Use water-based paint for walls and ceilings, and oil or water-based enamel paint for trims and doors
- Choose a ceiling paint that's low-drip and has a flat finish

Painting

- Apply undercoat: Use an undercoat if you’re covering a dark color or a surface that hasn’t been painted before.
- Paint: Start at the top and work your way down, applying thin coats of paint.
